T he American Dream was first used by James Truslow Adams in his book The Epic of America which was written in 1931. He states: "The American Dream” is that dream of a land in which life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability. Today, “The American Dream” is often associated with immigrants with their belief that there are far better opportunities in the USA than in their country of origin. In general, the American Dream means owning your own home, driving a nice car, having a great job, having the means to acquire material things and having the choices to enjoy life better. Those are easily achievable but do not guarantee fulfillment and happiness. |
