M
ay proved to be a whirlwind of events for the Filipino American Business Chamber of Commerce of Arizona (FABCCA).  The Chamber hosted a very successful consular outreach on May 3 at Casa Filipina Bakeshop.  Los Angeles Consul General Mary Jo Bernardo Aragon, the Vice Consul, and four other staff members were here to assist Filipinos in Arizona to obtain dual citizenship and also provide other consular services.  We have made arrangements with the Consul General to come back during the latter part of this year or early next year as part of an ongoing Consular Outreach Program.  May 3rd also marked the induction ceremony of the members and officers of the FABCCA.  Consul General Aragon officially inducted the rapidly growing chamber membership that evening at Moon Valley Country Club.

FABCCA will be holding a symposium on the Import/Export business for its June 21 membership meeting.  Philip Trainor will be the main resource person along with a special guest from the Department of Commerce.  This symposium aims to inform FABCCA members and guests of various opportunities on the import/export business, as well as the guidelines on starting your own import/export business.  FABCCA President, Marie Cunning, will also be announcing a few opportunities to partner-up with the Seattle Chamber of Commerce on a couple of business opportunities. This will be held from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Asian Bistro on 35th Avenue and Dunlap.  Everybody interested is invited to attend.  This is also open to non-members and all Filipinos interested in going into the import/export business. The FABCCA will also be sponsoring a Meet the Chamber and other Filipino Organizations gathering in August (venue and date to be announced).  This will be advertised widely so that all new Filipinos in the valley will be made aware that the Filipino Business community and the Filipino Civic organizations are alive and strong here in Arizona.

FABCCA grew by 10 new members for the Month of May. FABCCA now has 93 member businesses statewide and also a few based in the Philippines.  The FABCCA is a very active member of the Federation of the Philippine American Chambers of Commerce (FPACC) whose headquarters is in San Francisco. We are also under the guidance of our Philippine Based advisor, George Kintanar, who is the Chairman of the Philippines USA Economic and Business Council (PUBC) for the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).  For those interested in joining the FABCCA or for more information on FABCCA, we will have a booth at the Philippine Independence Day Celebration which will be held on June 7 from 9:00 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at the ASU West campus. We will be distributing our quarterly newsletter and also the Yellow Pages Directory for all Filipino businesses that are members of the Federation. We are inviting all Filipino-owned businesses and business men and women to take advantage of our low lifetime membership fee of $100 (paid one time only) to come and join us and see for yourselves the big innovations and membership advantages that our members will be enjoying.  Our membership dues are low since we are subsidized by our Corporate sponsors.  For application forms, please call Marie Cunning at 602-298-6730 or you can also email Marie Cunning at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
